Our Gladstone High School cheer team members returned from Las Vegas on Jan. 28 with a national championship trophy for the third year in a row. Go Glads!
Our award-winning cheer team traveled to Vegas to defend our national title and to hopefully pick up a title in a second category. And we dominated! In addition to earning our third consecutive national title in the sideline category, we won a national title in the traditional category for the first time in Gladstone cheer history. Judges scored both routines with zero deductions!
In the wake of our cheer team returning from Las Vegas, the Oregon School Activities Association recognized GHS cheer coach Shelby Crystal for demonstrating outstanding leadership and excellence.
In giving her a Coaching Excellence award, state officials wrote that she "built an incredible cheerleading program at Gladstone. Outside of OSAA competitions, she led the team to a first-place finish in both the USA Spirit Nationals and JAMZ National Competition in the sideline division. Shelby also contributes a significant portion of time to help fundraise for uniforms, travel expenses, coaching staff and equipment."
To all our Glad cheer team members, congrats on the statewide recognition and national trophies!
