John Wetten Elementary students enjoyed Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math groups with Math Specialist Emily Morse on Oct. 16.
First, second and third graders made Frankenworms by using chemistry to make fake worms dance and come to life. They also appreciated when they used a bit too much baking soda and it erupted over the cup.
Fourth and fifth grade STEAM groups made awesome borax crystal structures out of pipe cleaners and a popsicle stick. Then they heated up water with borax powder and stirred until it was dissolved. The structures hung out in the borax solution overnight so they could crystalize into what looks like rock candy, although it's definitely not edible.
